I tried recording for the first time today and there is HUGE lag when i am actuallly recording audio, it is not a latency issue like most people are experiencing with a delay in the monitors. This is what I did, except instead of playing twice subject to human error I used synchronized metronomes — one live and one on playback — panned hard left and hard right, then used a precision delay to align them dead center.
